Dr. Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan designate, has said that henceforth, aspiring Ibadan chieftaincy title’ holders would be subjected to historical check so as to ensure that only people of respectable backgrounds hold chieftaincy titles.
Balogun, who said that money would not be the determinant factor to earn chieftaincy titles in Ibadan under his reign, indicated that the growth and development of Ibadan would be the focus of his reign.
Balogun spoke at his Alarere residence while playing host to the former First Lady in the state, Chief Florence Ajimobi and her entourage.
The incoming Olubadan, who expressed gratitude to God for the strength and courage with which the former First Lady had been forging ahead since the demise of her husband, said his reign would be a listening one.
“I promise a receptive and open-door reign which would welcome advice and suggestions for the peace and upliftment of our great city,” he said.
Ajimobi, who was accompanied by the former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Olalekan Alli; his wife, Mrs. Alli; as well as the wife of the former Head of Service in the state, Mrs. Eniade, among others, prayed for good health, sound mind and wisdom for the Olubadan designate.
The former First Lady equally prayed for peace, stability, growth and development of the ancient city during and after the reign of Balogun just as hecommiserated with him on the demise of his predecessor.
