AKINWALE ABOLUWADE
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Olusola Ayandele, and hundreds of his supporters have renewed their allegiance to President Bola Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ayandele, an Ibarapa-born businessman and philanthropist, led his supporters to the APC campaign office in Ibadan on Tuesday, where he pledged their support for the party and promised to mobilise massive votes for its candidates across the Ibarapa zone.
He assured the party leadership that Ibarapa would deliver its “bulk votes” to the APC, declaring that the opposition parties would have little or no foothold in the zone during the 2027 elections.
Ayandele said, “As a committed member of the party at the grassroots, with the support of my teeming followers, I declare that there is no room for other political parties in Ibarapa.
“Our bulk votes from the zone will go to the APC in Ibarapa. We are also ready to provide financial support for the candidates and the campaign secretariat of the party.”
In a symbolic gesture, the state Chairman of the APC, Dr Moses Adeyemo, presented brooms to Ayandele and his supporters, describing their renewed commitment as a significant boost to the party’s mobilisation efforts.
Adeyemo urged party members to remain united and focused, stressing that victory in the 2027 elections would require the collective efforts of members across the state.
Also speaking, Alli assured the party members that his administration would run an inclusive government and ensure fairness to all members, irrespective of their senatorial districts or political zones.
The APC candidate also dismissed reports that party positions had been allocated to certain individuals, describing the claims as baseless and capable of causing disunity within the party.
“There is no iota of truth in the rumour that we have shared all the positions in the party. Nothing of such happened. As a political party, we operate an open-door policy.
“We will treat all members equally, irrespective of their zones. All members must work for the success of the party in their respective units.
“In 2027, it is going to be ‘Operation Win Your Polling Unit.’ That is the only way to wrest power from the Allied Peoples Movement in the state,” Alli said.
Alli urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, saying victory could only be achieved through coordinated efforts at the polling-unit level.
He commended Ayandele and his supporters for their renewed commitment to the APC, saying the development was an indication of the party’s growing strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Alli expressed confidence that the APC would consolidate its support base across Oyo State and defeat the ruling party through effective grassroots mobilisation and unity.
